Glassbreak Detection

A glass break detector is an acoustic detector which detects the audio frequencies generated by glass breakage.  The ultrasound frequency generated by the blunting blow prior to the glass break event of a window, alarms the security panel.  Glass break detectors will provide coverage for several windows within a common area, if correctly placed.  Since they are an acoustical detector, their sensitivity can be affected by room treatments like curtains, blinds, carpet and furniture.  Glass break detectors do provide a higher level of security, especially during “STAY” arming modes.
